Carla Kyalo

Part I Architectural Assistant

Since joining Mikhail Riches in 2024, Carla has been contributing to a large-scale masterplan as part of the ‘This City’ project for Manchester City Council.

She completed her BA in Architecture at Oxford Brookes University and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Architectural Design at The London School of Architecture. During her final undergraduate year, Carla researched the importance of uplifting and representing communities often overlooked in the design process. She expanded on this in her dissertation, ‘The Designer’s Lack of Spatial Awareness: Steps to Becoming More Engaged’, which was published in Autumn 2023 by the Association of Architectural Educators’ Charette journal.

Carla has worked on a diverse range of projects, including international hotels, masterplans, and commercial units, with recent experience in large-scale residential developments across London. She is particularly interested in the role of intentional, community-centred design to bridge the gap between existing and incoming residents in evolving urban areas.
