We are currently working with York City Council on the UK’s first Zero Carbon Housing Delivery Programme, building 600 homes across 7 sites. The City has set the ambitious target of not only Certified Passivhaus, but Net Zero CO2 in-use. Inspired by Goldsmith Street, the programme aspires to deliver high quality homes in close collaboration with local communities and include multi-generational and intergenerational living. Each scheme goes through a testing process to calculate the most cost and carbon efficient way to deliver our client’s brief. These schemes target biodiversity gains, a car-free public realm, and spaces to grow food. The first two projects: Duncombe Barracks, and Burnhome, are currently on site, 31 zero carbon homes will be delivered by 2023.
