Katrina Duncan

Architect

Having worked on small residential projects in Cambridge, Katrina moved to Paris to work with an urban research think-tank exploring how big ideas about the future of cities can be communicated and furthered with collaboration.

Since returning to work at Mikhail Riches her role has encompassed a similarly wide range of scales; she has enjoyed working on both the strategic and speculative work of the competition-winning Velocity, and the precision of working on a group of small and difficult sites in Croydon, taking them from their earliest stages to starting on site.

Alongside working for Mikhail Riches, Katrina has completed a Master’s in Architecture at The London School of Architecture over the last couple of years. Her final project, which explored a hybrid form of short / long term accommodation for a central London community, was selected to be part of the Blueprint graduate exhibition in London. One of her design and research projects examining the future of work in small industrial sites around London also led to winning the London Works student design competition alongside two fellow students.

Katrina gained her undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge, where she was awarded a first-class degree. Here, she fostered an interest in the intersection of building with nature, travelling in Europe and further afield to Mexico, to study the effect of context on design in different settings. She now often takes the opportunity to escape London to explore the outdoors, spending time walking in the mountains.
